Freedom means to captivate others with the magnetic power of love and to win over even those who hate you without hating them in return. True freedom obliges us to uphold our noble morals and higher values and to never betray our homeland or break the hearts that soar with us under one sky.\nThe rhetoric of Western and American powers regarding freedom and democracy is, in reality, centered on protecting the security of the Zionist entity rather than defending the will of our peoples.\nThe demand for reform, the fight against corruption, and the pursuit of justice are valid national demands that must continue and be met by the authorities with honesty and transparency. However, they must be pursued through ethical and constructive methods, not through destructive means or reliance on enemies of the nation.\nThe call to topple the Syrian system is a clear Zionist-American demand aimed at weakening Syria’s resistance stance and dismantling its alliance with Lebanese and Palestinian resistance movements.\nWhere was Western concern during the Nakba of Palestine, the massacres from Deir Yassin to Sabra and Shatila, from Qana to Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo? Where was it during the wars on Lebanon and the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan?\nFreedom does not mean shedding our identity for that of our enemies; it means holding fast to the soil of our homeland and cleansing ourselves of dependency, sectarianism, and blind allegiance. True freedom, reform, and justice begin when we free ourselves from submissive Western paradigms.\nWe, the Syrian people of all sects and affiliations, are pioneers of Arab unity and resistance. Despite our longing for reform and justice, we will never adopt the demands of our enemies. Our homeland will remain united, and Palestine will return to its people by God’s will.\n\nDate: 2011-05-01\nAuthor: Imad al-Din Joudat Dalati
